Vertix Networks Colocation Solutions
Our colocation facility is an environmentally controlled and power-managed datacenter where customers can mount their equipment in a secure environment. HiWAAY’s datacenter in Birmingham, Alabama provides the following capabilities:
- Full, half, or partial (1U to xxU’s) Rack for customer mounted equipment.
- Customer-Provided or HiWAAY-Provided Racks for customer mounted equipment.
- Powerful back-up generators and optional UPS to assure reliable and un-interrupted AC Power with 24 x 7 active monitoring.
- Security-controlled, escorted 24-hour access for co-location customers.
- Monitored temperature and humidity control for consistent equipment operating environment.
- Direct access to Level 1 Internet Services and local fiber (Metro-E and other fiber) services.
- Support for customer equipment and circuits by Vertix Networks Staff on either a contractual or as required basis (additional fee).

Technical Specifications for Server Colocation at Vertix Networks/HiWAAY Internet Services
Vertix Networks provides colocation space at our Birmingham, Alabama facility. You may co-locate your own full rack or purchase space in our racks in standard units of EIA 19″ rack space (1 std U = 17″W x 26″D X1.75″H). You may purchase as many U’s as needed. Each co-location customer at HiWAAY receives:
- One 120V AC power connection with generator backup
- One switched 10/100BaseT Ethernet connection
For each “U” rack space the customer must provide rack mountable equipment and mounting hardware. For full rack co-location, the customer must provide a standard EIA 19″ rack no taller than 80″ on rolling casters or use one provided by HiWAAY. POTS and BRI telephone lines can be installed for you.
Physical access is available to the network co-location facility anytime during normal office hours. Access outside of office hours is arranged by contacting our on-call staff. Physical access is escorted at all times.
Our Network Operations and Systems Administration Center team members will make their best effort to read indicator lights, press power/reset buttons, or insert a tape or CD/DVD during office hours at no charge. Support requiring HiWAAY technical labor is subject to hourly rates during office hours and per event fees plus labor rates outside of normal office hours.
